The recipe for Bitonto’s Cartellate. From Puglia Fuorirotta trip

This Christmas I want to take you home. In the hug of grandmothers that smells of sugar and flour. In the memory of sweets stolen under the table and fingers sticky with mulled wine. With the emotion and joy of still being together, despite the distances but united by a single tradition: that of home. Last summer I took you around the hidden wonders of Puglia, but now I’m returning home to Bitonto. This time I know the route very well: it is the one towards the aromas and flavors of my Christmas and I go to my aunts, Consiglia and Concetta, to learn how to prepare the Cartellate. The video is made in collaboration with WeAreinPuglia and I made it for Christmas 2020.

Inspiration

“The Laestrygonians and the Cyclopes or the fury of Neptune do not fear, This won’t be the kind of meeting if the thought remains high and a feeling steady guide your spirit and your body.”
