Angela Rossini, an orchid scholar, introduces us to Mattinata’s biodiversity, where about 60 of the Gargano’s 90 orchid species thrive. She also speaks about Orchidays, the Orchid Festival that attracts scholars and enthusiasts from all over the world.

Mariarosa Prencipe, from the Alenn association, describes the natural trails of Mattinata, such as the Valle della Vecchia and the path to Monte Sacro, ideal for hiking and immersing oneself in nature. Mayor Michele Bisceglia discusses the importance of preserving Mattinata’s authenticity while developing it as a tourist destination, balancing hospitality with maintaining the local identity. Martina De Vita highlights Mattinata’s cheesemaking traditions, focusing on the production of caciocavallo podolico and cacioricotta made from Gargano goat milk, emphasizing the value of the local supply chain.

Lastly, Councillor Paolo Valente talks about initiatives to promote tourism and culture in Mattinata, spotlighting events like the Orchid Festival and the extra virgin olive oil festival.

This episode is a fascinating journey through past and present, exploring the beauty, traditions, and rich, ever-changing history of Mattinata.
